The Problem

Pharma/Biotech/Medical Device companies (a.k.a. Sponsors) rely on doctors’ offices (a.k.a. Research Sites) to find patients for clinical trials. Each enrolled patient can bring a site anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000. The problem is finding qualified patients. Doctors have to manually search through dense medical records looking for extremely specific criteria, for example: “Prostate cancer in T2c stage, 20-80 cc in size determined via MRI.” Existing search tools rely on simple data fields, so they can’t handle these nuanced requirements. As a result, doctors manually sift through lists of 1000 patients with Prostate cancer only to discover ~5 patients match all eligibility criteria. The result is wasted time, missed revenue, and fewer patients getting access to potentially life-changing trials.

The Solution

The HealthKey solution works in two steps:

1. AI-Driven Prescreening
   • HealthKey connects with clinics’ EHR system* directly to pull all medical records, including faxed PDFs. Then AI is used to compare each patient’s medical history against a trial’s specific eligibility criteria. For example: prostate cancer’s status, stage, size, and impression source. HealthKey repeats this for every criterion, across all trials, creating a carefully vetted list of potential candidates ranked by how likely they are to qualify.
2. Doctor Review
   • Doctors log in to the dashboard to view the prescreened patients. For each candidate, HealthKey highlights the key pieces of evidence—such as MRI details or encounter notes—so doctors can verify if a patient qualifies. This feedback loop improves the system, making it fast and easy to identify, qualify and enroll patients into clinical trials.
   • Doctors can onboard in under a week with HealthKey's existing integrations*, or they’ll integrate with any certified EHR for free. Clinics only pay when they successfully identify qualified patients!
